Reports associated with the affected products include fever, chills, severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, rapid heart rate, blood pressure changes, body aches, and injection-site reactions.
The contamination concern is particularly serious because the affected product is injected rather than taken orally. Bacterial endotoxins introduced directly into the body can cause an intense inflammatory response.
